The City of Marshall will operate a grass clippings, brush, and other green waste compost site for use by Marshall City Residents and surrounding townships. Users of the site will be asked to present identification confirming residency.

 For-hire carriers and contractors will not be allowed use of the site.

The compost site will not accept:                       

  • construction materials
  • plastics of any kind
  • trees or limbs over 6 inches in diameter
  • stumps
  • concrete
  • food waste
  • others items as determined by the City      

The compost site will offer material for purchase:

  • Compost is available at this time
  • Wood chips are available also

Site Address: 619 Homer Rd. (east of the PubliWorks Garage)

 Site Hours: 4-7pm Tuesdays; 9:00am to 3:00pm; Friday and Saturday’s

2023 Operational Dates: April 11 through November 19

 

Scheduled Closure Dates:  May 27 & 28; July 5        

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

 

    You must purchase a punch card to use at the Compost Site.  No payment is accepted on site.  There are two options:

 

1.     $20.00 City Resident/ $40 all others-                          punch card which will provide 10 visits to the compost site.  Multiple punch cards may be purchased.  Unused punches carryover to the next year.

 

2.    $30.00  City Resident/ $60 all others-                        Annual card allows you to visit the site as many times as you wish during the annual season. 

 

    You must present your Picture ID showing residency and punch card to the attendant when you visit the Compost Site.

 

    The card will be punched for every visit to the site, even for multiple visits on the same day.

 

    Punch Cards can be purchased at City Hall during normal business hours.

 

    The city will not replace any lost cards.

 

    Contractors will not be allowed to use the Compost Site.
